The Timber frame design studio have completed a variety of Timber and Roof Truss design projects since our inception. Timber frame manufactures have the confidence in us to create timber kit designs for any scope project -and then deliver it on a time and without error.
We have worked on hotels, bespoke residential units, combined commercial and residential units, care homes, nursing homes, schools, extensions and hi-spec zero carbon units, across the UK and Ireland. Some examples of these projects are shown below.
DURRANTS FARM
Bespoke Home
West Sussex, UK
Situated West of Crawley, this Luxury bespoke home required a high quality timber frame structure to match. The timber frame design was delivered on time and without issue which led to more future work from this particular developer.

The design included large Oak frames and Oak Porches which all had to tie in to the timber frame kit. It included hi-spec walls to achieve above average U-Values and along with the attic roof and large internal open space made this a complex design from the beginning.
HITCHIN ROAD
Residential Flats
Hitchen Road, Luton, UK
This 4 Storey residential flats was built over multi levels around a large site and built of 2 phases. Complexities with design were varied. The initial level planning and setting out was imperative to get correct and the extensive solar panel arrays, and man safe tracks around these made engineering the roof accurately, very important. The feature angled parapets were a particular design feature of this build, giving the illusion of height form different angles and designing these to be secure from wind and man load was a complex task.
CEDAR BARN
Code 6 Passivhaus
Milton Keynes, UK
Cedar Barn was the UK's first Code 6 Passivhaus, and set the benchmark for sustainability for new build housing when it was built. It was insulated with the highest spec rigid insulation and wrapped with the most efficient breather paper, meaning the U-values were significantly better than those given in Part L1A of the Building Regulations. Combining many other hi-tech energy saving features the building has a zero net CO2 emissions and is currently producing nearly three times the electricity it uses.
LEE MARSTON HOTEL

The design of Hotels comes with its own specific set of requirements, and this 30 bedroom extension was no different. The award winning Lee Marston Hotel extension, which included 24 Superior Rooms, 4 Executive Rooms and 2 Luxury bespoke suites provided new challenges. The design development stage was lengthy, as the client was understandably particular over the final product, and timescales are tight. However, the final link between the old building and the new extension was seamless and the deadline for the sale of the first room was achieved.
WHISPERS CARE HOME
Whispers Care Home
Winchester, UK
This care home was a big job for the Timber Design Studio. It was a combination of 3 buildings, all designed for a specific purpose. One was a general care home, which had flats with kitchens. Another was a ward for more serious care, and the other was specifically designs as a Bariatric ward. This included bed cranes. lift tracks throughout and hoists with a complicated roof design.
